      Tech Vocabulary for Small Business Owners

      Scott Friedman, Chief Technologist for UCLA

      This class is for small business owners who want to hire developers or have to interact with technologists. Students will learn basic tech terminology so that they no longer feel at a disadvantage when speaking with developers. The instructor will provide students with a clear understanding of the concepts that make today's technology. Students will also be given an opportunity to ask the instructor about specific concepts they are struggling with.

      Student Takeaways:

      • A clear understanding of the stages of development
      • An overview of the must know tech terms used today- Cloud, Agile, Scrum, SQL, Ruby
      • The difference between front-end and back-end
      • Tips on how to effectively communicate with developers

      None.

      About the Instructor:

      Scott Friedman is UCLA's Chief Technologist for High Performance Research Computing, Networking and Storage. Scott has over 20 years of experience in technology and does consulting on the side to help explain complicated technology to very smart non-programmers.
