Law is Not for Lawyers (It's for Everyone) with Tristan Blaine & Friends

Note: Your ticket includes - and is the same price as - the book! The Last Bookstore is pleased to present Tristan Blaine and his new book Law is Not for Lawyers (It's for Everyone): Empower Yourself with the Basics of Law and Civics.    Get your signed copy of this enjoyable and accessible new work by a lawyer who is in it for the people, not the money. This is the first book published by Law Soup, a media company which explains the law, simply. We will commemorate the launch of the book, as well as the 5th anniversary of Law Soup! Join us for a celebration of civics and reclaiming the power of the people, through readings, discussion, games (with prizes!), and art.   Law is Not for Lawyers is so essential, it should be legally required reading! This book is part practical handbook to the legal system, part refresher on civics and government, because you can’t understand one without the other. We can all be more informed and engaged in making society a better place.   You may be surprised that a lawyer is saying that Law is Not for Lawyers. I’m not saying we don’t need lawyers, but the law affects all people, and everyone needs to know about the law and the legal system.   Once you have the basics down, this knowledge can be the basis for reclaiming your power in society.   Tristan Blaine founded Law Soup in 2014 and currently serves as its Editor-in-Chief. As a California lawyer with his own law practice, he helps people start and grow small businesses of all kinds, including freelancing, social enterprise/B corporations, and more. Recognized as a leader in the community, he has been selected to the Super Lawyers list, and profiled by various media outlets.   He received his bachelor’s degree from UCLA, and obtained a law degree with a concentration in Constitutional Law and Rights from Cardozo Law School in New York.
