Note: Your ticket includes - and is the same price as - the book. Celebrate the west coast launch of The Performing Art of Therapy: Acting Insights and Techniques for Clinicians by therapist/author/actor, Mark O'Connell, with wine, hors d'oeuvres, and a conversation with psychoanalyst/ author, Phillip Ringstrom.     Guests will enjoy complimentary cocktails and small bites, a signed copy of The Performing Art of Therapy, and a discussion about the intuitive dramatic nature of therapy.  Therapists of all orientations, performers of any kind, and anyone who has an invested interest in either subject is encouraged to attend.  Mark O'Connell will invite attendees to try some of the provocative exercises from his book. The Performing Art of Therapy explores the myriad ways in which acting techniques can enhance the craft of psychotherapy. The book shows how, by understanding therapy as a performing art, clinicians can supplement their theoretical approach with techniques that fine-tune the ways their bodies, voices, and imaginations engage with and influence their clients. Broken up into accessible chapters focused on specific attributes of performance, and including an appendix of step-by-step exercises for practitioners, this is an essential guidebook for therapists looking to integrate their theoretical training into who they are as individuals, find joy in their work, expand their empathy, increase self-care, and inspire clients to perform their own lives. Mark O'Connell, LCSW, MFA is a NYC-based psychotherapist in private practice and author. Before becoming a therapist, Mark trained and worked as an actor. All of his work is in service of expanding our capacities to live, love, and create. His website is: All events are subject to cancellation, so please check back.
